A Yankton man has been identified as the victim in a single vehicle crash south of Beresford that occurred last weekend.
Preliminary crash information indicates that Gene J. Eli, 66, was driving a motorcycle headed southbound on I-29 when for an unknown reason the motorcycle drifted off the left side of the highway and into the median.
Eli was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.
Eli wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and Speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
