Mead Museum Hall of Trees

Delight in the holiday season by visiting the historic Mead Museum filled with unique, cheery Christmas trees! You’ll enjoy seeing over 70 trees decorated by area organizations and individuals. Vote for your favorite! Open every day [except Christmas Day] from noon-4. Friday nights are special hours – open until 8pm.This event is for all ages! Kids receive a prize bag. Santa and Mrs. Claus will pay a special visit on Sunday, December 8th, 15th and 22nd with kids crafts from 1-3pm. Find more information online at www.meadbuilding.org/halloftrees.

Vermillion Standstill Parade of Lights

The 9th Annual Standstill Parade of Lights will be held in Historic Downtown Vermillion on Thursday, December 5th at 6pm to officially kick off the holiday season.
You won’t want to miss seeing Santa Claus as he officially lights the Vermillion Christmas Tree. Come check out the floats designed by businesses and organizations from the Vermillion Area, see live music, and enjoy hot drinks and treats.
Following the tree lighting, Santa will be available for pictures at the Library—don’t forget to bring your camera!

Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights

Bring the entire family to the Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights on Thursday, December 5th from 6-8pm. Look for Santa Claus on the very first float! Come early to shop, join in fun activities and to claim your spot along 3rd Street to watch this exciting holiday event!

After the parade, take a short walk to the Meridian Bridge for the official lighting of Yankton’s Christmas Tree, carolers, hot drinks and fireworks!

The Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights is FREE to attend! No tickets required to view the parade or tree lighting ceremony! Find more information or to register your float online at www.cityofyankton.org.

Calvary to Offer “Lights on Broadway”

This Christmas season, Calvary Baptist Church will offer a special gift to the Yankton and surrounding communities called “Lights on Broadway.”  On the front of their building, they will have a beautiful display of sparkling lights dancing to festive Christmas music.

The light show will take place December 6-8, December 13-15, December 20-22, and December 27-31 (light show only, no inside activities), from 5:00-9:00 p.m. each night.

The public is invited inside for free hot chocolate, cookies, a photo booth, bouncy house, and kids’ activities on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Calvary is located at 2407 Broadway, Yankton, SD

Light Up Yankton

Light Up the City of Yankton! Whether you’re more of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree kind of holiday decorator or a Clark Griswold type, just don’t be a Grinch. Help us Light Up Yankton! Prizes will be drawn every Friday until the new year. Register your home or business at www.yanktonsd.com, plus you can also view a virtual Google map with participating addresses.

Breakfast with Santa

Have a fun filled breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 7th at St. Agnes School in Vermillion from 9-11:30am. Cost is $10 for adults and 5 for kids. Serving a French toast and sausage breakfast, plus free pictures with Santa, and free crafts for the kids. You can also expect local vendors including the Scholastic book fair. Santa’s Workshop

Santa Claus and his Yankton Morning Optimist Club elves invite you to experience Santa’s Workshop! Located in Yankton’s Dakota Territorial Capitol Replica within Riverside Park, this free family-focused event is a great way to celebrate the festive holiday season with your kids and grandkids.

What to expect:
🎄 Take your photo with Santa (no appointments needed, no photographer on site so bring your own phone/camera!)

🎄 Holiday craft projects for kids
🎄 Outdoor train rides around Riverside Park

Santa Storytime

The Yankton Community Library will be hosting an extra special evening storytime on Monday, December 16th at 6 pm. Santa Claus is coming to the Library! We will read the book The Night Before Christmas, followed by a visit from Santa. After the story, kids will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and take photos. This event is free and open to people of all ages.
