Winter Weather Causes Multiple YHS Activity Changes

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, multiple Yankton High School activities have had events moved, postponed, or canceled.

Yankton Gazelles Softball:

  • The Gazelles’ season opener against O’Gorman scheduled for Saturday, March 23rd has been postponed to May 3rd. The game will be made up during a tournament Yankton is scheduled to attend in Sioux Falls.
  • The Gazelles’ road matchup against Sioux Falls Washington scheduled for Monday, March 25th has been postponed. No makeup date has been set at this time.

Yankton Bucks Tennis:

  • The Bucks’ duels today, Friday, March 22nd, and tomorrow, Saturday, March 23rd, are still going on as scheduled, but have been moved indoors. Over the two days, Yankton faces Rapid City Central, Rapid City Christian, St. Thomas More, and Spearfish.

All-State Band:

  • The start time of the South Dakota All-State Band Concert on Saturday, March 23rd, has been moved up to allow students to return home earlier in the day. The new start time is 12:00 PM noon.

YHS Student Council:

  • The Yankton HS Student Council was scheduled to attend the State Student Council Convention in Rapid City on Monday, March 25th, and Tuesday, March 26th. That event has been canceled and will not be made up.
