Yankton Man Sentenced to 85 Years in Prison on Manslaughter Charge

A Yankton man has been sentenced to 85 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary in the murder of Timber Cournoyer.

Adrian Lund, 32, appeared in court Friday for sentencing in Cournoyer’s murder, which occurred last May in Yankton.

Lund pled guilty to a First-Degree Murder charge last month as part of a plea bargain.

Lund’s defense team attempted to negotiate a lighter sentence, but was denied by Circuit Court Judge Cheryle Gering because she felt he was a threat to others due to a couple of altercations since Lund’s incarceration.

Lund will be held in the Yankton County Jail until he is transferred to the state penitentiary.
