An infant in Knox County has been pronounced dead after being found lying face down in a crib at a daycare.
The Bloomfield Police Department and Bloomfield EMS responded to reports of an unresponsive three-month-old female at an in-home daycare on January 30th.
The infant was transported to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
An investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the child was found by the daycare provider lying face down in a portable crib.
Preliminary autopsy reports state that there was no acute trauma to the infant’s body.
No criminal charges are anticipated in the matter.
