Yankton Man Sentenced in Fatal Shooting of his Girlfriend

A Yankton man has been sentenced to 65 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for his involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred in November of 2022.

The incident occurred on November 6th, 2022, when Trevor Wayne Harrison, 36, and his girlfriend, Jade Rembold, returned to their home in the 1300 block of Whiting Drive from an event where they had been drinking, when an argument ensued.

According to court documents, Rembold attempted to leave the house with the couple’s infant son, when Harrison grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot in what he claimed to be an attempt to keep Rembold from leaving.

Rembold then continued towards the front door of the residence when Harrison fired the gun again and struck Rembold in the back of the head, killing her.

Harrison was sentenced Monday and was charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Harrison’s sentence begins immediately.
