Former Crofton Police Chief, City Council, and Mayor to Hold Closed-Door Meeting Over Alleged Firing

Former Crofton Police Chief John Carter appeared in front of the Crofton City Commission Monday night to forgo his appeal against his apparent firing from the Crofton Police Department.

Carter said during the meeting that he couldn’t appeal his alleged firing because he claims that he has not been given an official reason for his firing from Crofton Mayor Bob Evans.

Carter proposed a closed-door meeting between himself and his legal representation and the Crofton City Council, Mayor Bob Evans, and Crofton City Attorney Mike Stevens of Yankton to discuss the alleged firing.

The city council agreed to the meeting, but a date for the meeting has not been set at this time.
