Fireworks go on sale today in South Dakota and Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles has some tips for those planning on purchasing fireworks.
Nickles says that he advises visiting with firework retailers to get familiar with safety precautions for each firework.
Nickles says that he recommends wearing safety glasses while shooting off fireworks.
Nickles says that fireworks can not be set off within city limits of Yankton.
South Dakota law permits that fireworks can be sold through July 5th.
