The Yankton County Commission has decided to terminate the Stone Church replacement on the James River Bridge for this year.
Yankton County Highway Superintendent Mike Sedlacek says that despite the county receiving a Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) from the state, they are $7 million short of the funds needed to complete the project.
Commissioner Dan Klimisch says that the county will return the BIG Grant that they received this year.
The commission agreed to table the Stone Church project until 2024.
