The Yankton Middle School Science Olympiad team competed at the National Science Olympiad tournament last week at Wichita State University.
Coach Nicole Mehlhaff says that they began training for the tournament in November with over 50 students trying out for the team before they wound it down to 18 students on the team for the tournament.
Mehlhaff, who is one of two coaches, along with fellow teacher Cheryl Schaffer, says that they had two students, Isaac Larington and Isaac Paulson, place 5th at Nationals
Mehlhaff says that they’re proud of team’s accomplishments this year, being one of 120 teams in the country that competed at the event.
