A lockdown occurred last week at Yankton middle school following a student expressing concern over something they had heard, and the potential of a weapon in the building.
YSD Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kindle described how the middle school principal, along with himself and local law enforcement, worked together to solve the issue.
Kindle also stated that it is important for all schools to have a plan in place in case of emergency.
No weapon was found during the lockdown at YMS, and classes were able to resume as normal for the remainder of the day.
