The man arrested in a hostage situation in Yankton Thursday afternoon has been charged with first and second-degree kidnapping.
Police Chief Jason Foote says Ricky Leroy German held two adults hostage inside a home at 1700 College Street after officers arrived to assist SD Department of Corrections Parole Agents in checking on a male at the residence
Foote says that German fled to a back room of the house, taking an adult male and female hostage.
Foote says that after nearly two hours, officers were able to safely remove both hostages from the residence and then arrested German.
Foote says that in addition to the kidnapping charges, German has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Domestic Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unauthorized Ingestion of a Controlled Substance.
