The Yankton City Commission met on Monday night to discuss the initial purchase of bicycles for a new YPD bike patrol.

The proposal is to purchase 2 Police Special electric bicycles from Kopetsky’s Bike and Fitness for $10,745.85.
The bicycles need to be ordered, properly outfitted, then the officers trained in their use before they start patrolling on them.

The Commission authorized the purchase of these bicycles, and Chief Foote expects that we will start seeing officers on bikes this summer.
