The Yankton Fire Department has announced that they have received a $10,000 grant from BNSF Railway.
Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles says that the grant will help the department purchase equipment to improve response time to locomotive and electrical fires.
Nickles says that the fire department will use the grant money to purchase CO2 and dry chemical fire extinguishers, firefighting AB foam, and foam educators.
