A Crofton man has been identified as the person who died Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash east of Beresford.
Joseph Tramp III, age 76, was driving a 2007 Kenworth Semi-truck and trailer heading eastbound on South Dakota Highway 46. Tramp swerved to avoid rear-ending an eastbound pickup which was turning into a private driveway. The semi-truck and trailer crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2012 Kenworth semi-truck and trailer.
Tramp was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the truck.
Dustin Aspaas, 38, the driver of the 2012 Kenworth, received serious non-life threating injuries and was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital.
SD Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
