Yankton EMS is looking to hire a full time paramedic.
Deputy Ambulance Director Troy Cowman says that they recently hired two full time EMTs, but one of their paramedics resigned leaving them short staffed.
Cowman says that having a shortened staff has led to trouble accepting medical transfers for patients.
Cowman says that Yankton EMS has had difficulties finding applicants for the position.
Cowman says that one of the full time EMTs that they recently hired is in paramedic school in Sioux Falls and expects to morph him into that role once he graduates.
Cowman says that in the meantime they may have to hire more full time EMTs to fill in those positions.
