NorthWestern Energy Prepared for Below Freezing Temperatures in South Dakota

The Winter months are always expected to bring colder weather and in turn higher energy bills to keep homes at a comfortable environment, but the frigid temperatures that have descended upon the Yankton area this week mean that those appliances are forced to work even harder and consume an even higher amount of energy.

Jo Dee Black of Northwestern energy recently talked to KYNT about how, and for how long, Northwestern has prepared for weather like the area has seen recently.

Black also described how people can cut back on their energy consumption over the winter months.

Black went on to talk about how the severe winds and weather occurring around Yankton could potentially damage infrastructure such as power lines, and urges citizens to stay away from any downed powerlines they find, and to report them to Northwestern immediately.
