The state of South Dakota will be issuing a new license plate design starting January 1, 2023.
Rachel Soulek with the SD Department of Revenue said in a press release Tuesday that the design effort was led by newly re-elected Governor Noem, the Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division, and the SD Department of Tourism.
Soulek added that plates are eligible to be renewed 90 days before their expiration date, but won’t be able to receive the new design unless they are renewed after the start of the new year.
