A routine traffic stop led to a traffic pursuit in Yankton early Thursday morning.
Highway Patrol says that at 2 am Thursday morning, a Highway Patrol trooper attempted to make a traffic enforcement stop on a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup on Highway 81.
Tony Mangan with the SD Department of Public Safety says that the driver of the pickup did not stop and a pursuit began through Yankton and left town going east before coming back into Yankton.
Mangan added that the pickup eventually became disabled and the pursuit was ended.
Highway Patrol says that the suspect, Michael Petersen Jr, 33, of Rapid City was taken into custody and charges are pending.
