With five candidates running for the three open seats for Yankton County Commission, it turned into a very close race.
Incumbent Dan Klimisch received the most votes with 5,174 or 26% of the 20,383 votes cast.
Klimisch reacted to the election results…
Ryan Heine received 4,383 or 22% of the votes to secure a seat on the Commission.
The third open seat was won by John Marquardt with 3,891 or 19% of the vote, but with incumbent Cheri Loest receiving 3,780 or 19% of the vote, this gives us a possible recount.
Marquardt commented on the close race…
Matt Evens received 3,155 or 15% of the vote.
