The Yankton Fire Department and YPD responded to a car fire near the Yankton Medical Clinic on Thursday.
Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles says that a Scotland Ambulance was following a SUV on 9th street when they noticed smoke from the back of the vehicle.
Nickles says that the ambulance drivers were able to get the attention of the driver of the SUV.
After the driver exited the vehicle, Nickles says that the engine compartment burst into flames.
Nickles says that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire was started by an oil leak.
Nickles added that there were no injuries and that fire fighters were on scene for 30 minutes.
