Freeman City Council Votes to Put Pit Bulls to Sleep That Attacked Local Woman

The Freeman City Council has voted 5-0 to have three pit bulls put to sleep that attacked a Freeman woman.

The victim, 55-year-old Aleta Starner, was attacked during the early morning hours of June 13th while she was walking near Freeman’s community center. She was bitten 17 times and received 63 different injuries, according to court records.

The motion is that the pit bulls will not be put to sleep until after their owners Dawson Schild and his mother Denise have their next court appearance on July 25th.

The Schilds can still appeal the decision to a circuit court judge.
