Yankton Man Arrested For Lottery Thefts

A Yankton man has been arrested after breaking into multiple video lottery machines across the county.

Yankton Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Rothschadl says that 56-year-old Richard Lien was arrested at JR’s Oasis on Wednesday afternoon.

On Sunday morning, the Sheriff’s Office responded to Flatlanders in Gayville concerning video lottery machines that were broken into on Saturday. Rothschadl says that Lien broke into the lottery machines and took off with the money box. Four hundred eight dollars was stolen from Flatlanders.

Lien has been charged with manipulating the outcome of a video lottery machine, first-degree intentional damage to property, and first-degree petty theft.

Lien had multiple warrants out for his arrest from Pennington County at the time of the Yankton County arrest.
