Tea Man Steals Car, Gas East of Yankton

A Tea man has avoided local charges after stealing a car at a business west of Yankton.

Yankton County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Rothschadl says that on Tuesday morning, officers responded to a report of a gas theft that occurred at Captain Norms.

Officers investigated and found that at the time of the gas theft, 35-year-old John Dooley was driving a stolen vehicle out of Tea.

Dooley attempted to get gas and then left the first stolen vehicle at the business and then subsequently stole another vehicle from Captain Norms. Rothschadl says that the owner of that vehicle did not want to press charges.

Dooley was arrested later on Tuesday in Tea for the first vehicle theft. Arrangements were made to get the vehicle back to the owner in Yankton.
