Yankton Prisoners Placed On Escape Status

Two minimum-security state prison inmates have been placed on escape status in Yankton.

The South Dakota Department of Corrections says Inmates Gaige McCune and Anthony McDonald left their work release jobsite in Yankton without authorization Tuesday morning. They failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center at the appointed time.

25-year-old McCune is a white male. He is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

21-year-old McDonald is a white male. He is 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Failure to return to custody following an assignment or temporary leave granted for a specific purpose or limited period constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Please contact local law enforcement if you see McCune and McDonald or know their whereabouts.
