Tabor Man Avoids Jail In Pot Brownie Case

The Tabor man whose mother unknowingly provided marijuana brownies to a group of senior citizens has received a suspended imposition of sentence.

46-year-old Michael Koranda was sentenced this week in Bon Homme County Court by Judge Cheryle Gering. She gave Koranda the suspended sentence with two years of probation. In addition, Koranda was ordered to pay over one thousand dollars for his fine and court costs, along with over two thousand dollars in restitution to victims. He must also meet other court conditions, including writing a letter of apology to those affected by the THC-laced brownies.

According to court documents, the Bon Homme County dispatch center received multiple calls about a possible poisoning at the Tabor Senior Center on the evening of January 4th. Upon investigation, it was found out that Koranda baked the pan of marijuana brownies and Koranda’s mother took them to the senior center.

Besides his legal issues, Koranda resigned his position with the Bon Homme school district as its K-12 vocal music teacher.
