The City of Yankton has released the identities of the two applicants for a medical cannabis dispensary license in the city. Yankton was the first municipality in South Dakota to accept medical marijuana dispensary applications and has been waiting on the state for several months for their approval.
Through a lottery process, the two applications that were approved by the state were Genesis Farms, LLC, located at 2500 South Dakota Highway 50 and Green Machine, Inc., located at 220 Capital Street.
Yankton City Finance Officer Al Viereck confirms that the next step for the two applicants is receiving a certificate of occupancy from the city of Yankton prior to opening their doors for business.
Emmett Reistroffer from Genesis Farms is cautiously optimistic he will be able to open the business on the east side of Yankton as the South Dakota Legislature currently debates the laws surrounding medical marijuana this legislative session.
