South Dakota recorded 14 new deaths related to COVID-19 including one in Yankton and Clay County.
According to the South Dakota Department of Health, Yankton County’s new COVID death was its 49th overall and fifth this month. For Clay County, it was the 19th death recorded and second in January.
Yankton County recorded 21 new cases Wednesday. That’s the smallest daily increase since January 3rd. There were 64 new recoveries, cutting active cases to 858. Two new hospitalizations were reported, bringing the January total to 25. Avera Sacred Heart Hospital has 12 COVID patients, five of whom were in intensive care.
Clay County reported 46 new infections Wednesday, with active cases climbing to 694. That is a new pandemic high.
