A stabbing occurred in Yankton Monday night.
Yankton Police Chief Jason Foote says that on Monday evening shortly after 9:00 PM, officers were called to the 300 block of Douglas Avenue in response to a stabbing. Upon the officer’s arrival, they provided first aid to the male victim, who was later transported to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital.
Foote says a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 37-year-old Chad Elkins of Yankton. Elkins was arrested for Aggravated Assault and transported to the Yankton County Jail, where he remains in custody.
The victim is expected to recover from the wounds sustained during the assault.
