Yankton County reported a new death from COVID-19 on Monday. In addition, active cases in the state jumped to their highest level since December 16th of 2020.

As of Monday, Avera Sacred Heart Hospital had ten COVID hospitalizations, including six in intensive care and two on ventilators. Healy says a majority of the COVID-19 patients continue to be unvaccinated.
