In June of 1936, Yankton’s first ever museum opened. Fast forward over eighty-five years and a new record for Yankton County’s Museum has been set this month.
Mead Cultural Education Center Executive Director Crystal Nelson says that the museum surpassed one thousand visitors in one month, a new record that has never been seen before…
Nelson adds that the museum will be building on that success in the new year…
Throughout 2022, Yankton residents will see the remainder of the historic buildings move from West Side Park to their new location at Heritage Park near the main Mead Campus.
The Mead Cultural Education Center is located at 82 Mickelson Drive in the northern part of Yankton.
