Creighton Man Charged With Manslaughter Makes Initial Court Appearance

A former Creighton man who is being charged with manslaughter made his initial court appearance Thursday.

29-year-old Edward Stephan Davis appeared in Knox County Court. He is facing one count of child abuse resulting in death, in connection with the death of his four-month-old child and one count of manslaughter.

According to court documents, Davis’s son Ender died as a result of blunt-force injury to the head, neck and torso.

Davis appeared with his court-appointed attorney, Rodney Smith, and was read his statutory rights. He requested a preliminary hearing, which is set for January 6th at 1:30 p.m.

A complaint was filed recently and an arrest warrant was issued in November for Davis, who was detained last week in the Brown County Jail in Brownwood, Texas, and then the Knox County Sheriff’s Office transported him to Nebraska to face the charges.

If convicted, Davis faces forty years to life in prison.
