Since the middle of 2017, Yankton’s Pathways Shelter for the Homeless has had a waiting list to enter the shelter.
Thanks in large part to some generous donors, construction to expand the facility officially began in January of 2021. Now, the expansion project is nearly finished.
Pathways Executive Director Jesse Bailey says the main obstacle now is hiring staff for the expanded services…
Bailey adds that the community has been very generous in helping finance the expansion…
With the expansion, Pathways will have space for roughly one hundred people, up from the current capacity of forty-eight. Bailey is hopeful the basement expansion can open to the homeless on January first.
