The South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation has released more details following a deadly shooting in Scotland Tuesday evening.
DCI agents says that when the Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home on Tuesday evening, deputies found two victims who had been killed. Three other people were also shot; one of those individuals later died from injuries at a Sioux Falls Hospital.
42-year-old Francis D. Lange was arrested on several charges including three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and five counts of aggravated assault.
The identities of the deceased have not been released pending proper notification of family members.
Law enforcement say that while the investigation is ongoing, there is no threat to the public or community.
An investigation by Special Agents with the Division of Criminal Investigation found the shooting was likely the result of a “domestic-related altercation.”
