Iowa Man Arrested After Yankton Police Pursuit

The Yankton Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning.

Yankton Police Chief Jason Foote says that on Saturday morning just after midnight, an individual flagged down a Yankton police officer in the 100 block of East 3rd street to report a possible drunk driver in a silver sedan heading north.

Foote says at the same time, another officer was in the area and observed a silver sedan heading north on Capital Street near 4th street with a headlight out. The officer attempted to stop this vehicle as it failed to stop at the stop sign at 4th and Capital. The vehicle fled east on 4th and turned north on Burleigh where it collided with a telephone box near Gramps gas station. The vehicle then continued north on Burleigh and east on 15th Street where the vehicle eventually pulled over and stopped.

The male driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Anderson Linares De La Rosa of Toledo Iowa, was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, eluding a law enforcement officer, and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was subsequently booked into the Yankton County Jail.
