Yankton Escapee Arrested Thursday Night

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office has located and arrested a Yankton man who escaped the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday evening.

According to Yankton County Sherriff’s Office Lieutenant Steve Wuebben, Cedar County deputies located the escapee from Tuesday night on Thursday evening at 9:30 PM.

34-year-old Nathan Murphree was arrested and booked into the Yankton County Jail on a multitude of charges stemming from Tuesday’s pursuit and escape. He is being charged with several charges including driving with a suspended license, eluding law enforcement and reckless driving. According to court documents, Murphee had four previous arrest warrants prior to Tuesday’s pursuit.

According to Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda, at 5:30 pm Tuesday his office was informed of a pursuit of a blue vehicle that began in South Dakota. Koranda says that Murphee took off on foot into the cornfield and was not found after an extensive search of the area on Tuesday night.
