Ravnsborg Pleads No Contest To Charges In Fatal Crash

The legal criminal conclusion to what happened on U.S. Highway 14 just west of Highmore on the night of September 12th 2020 was decided at a hearing Thursday morning at the Stanley County Courthouse in Fort Pierre.

South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg of Yankton took a plea deal and plead no contest to two of the three misdemeanor traffic offenses stemming from the incidents leading up to the death of Joe Boever.

Joe Boever’s widow Jenny spoke to the court Thursday, saying that Ravnsborg’s actions are unforgivable…

Ravnsborg did not appear in the courtroom on Thursday. He was represented by his attorney Timothy Rensch. Rensch says that Boever’s death was purely an accident…

Ravnsborg was fined $500 on both counts and $3,000 for costs to secure the scene of the crash. The request for Ravnsborg to cover the cost of Boever’s funeral was denied by Judge John Brown.
