Group Pushing To Save Four Lane Highway In Wagner

A group of citizens from Charles Mix and Bon Homme counties are trying to save the four-lane highway through Wagner.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation are proposing to change the current four lanes through Wagner down to two lanes with a center turning lane.

Over 1,200 signatures on a petition to support the current four lane state highway through Wagner were collected across Charles Mix County the past two weeks. The petitions have been sent to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

Former South Dakota Legislator Frank Kloucek of Scotland led the petition drive.

Eleven major crashes have occurred along the stretch of Highway 42 in Wagner since 2014.
