Every summer, Yankton’s Regional Technical Education Center in conjunction with the Yankton Manufacturing Association, sponsors a two-week academy to introduce area high school students to high tech manufacturing.
Fifteen students from across the region graduated from that Academy on Friday.
Yankton State Representative Ryan Cwach was the featured speaker at the graduation. He spoke the students, knowing that there is a lot of pressure on graduating kids to get way from South Dakota and their parents for an opportunity elsewhere. However, he encouraged the students to remain in Yankton for their future careers.
In addition to their certificates, this year’s graduates of the YMEA were also awarded a $50 stipend for their time in the academy.
