The Yankton City Commission continued their budget discussions Monday night, as they near finalizing the city budget for 2022.
One bit of reprieve that is being proposed is no utility rate increases for next year in Yankton.
Yankton City Manager Amy Leon says that the current rate structure that the city has in place will be adequate to pay for the expenses across all utilities in 2022. She says that she doesn’t want anyone to think that there will not be any utility rate increases in the future.
Yankton City Commissioner Nathan Johnson was pleased with the news, saying that its nice that any increases will be waiting at least a year after he has heard citizen pleas to stop the annual increases in the past.
The Yankton City Commission will be finalizing their budget next month.
