Jenny Briest of Yankton has been inducted into a prestigious national organization honoring military caregivers. Briest will join the Elizabeth Dole Foundations call of 2021 Caregiver Fellows.
Briest joins eleven military and veteran caregivers from across the country to represent those Americans caring for a wounded, ill, or injured service member or veteran at home.
As a Dole Caregiver Fellow, Briest will serve as a leader, community organizer, and advocate for military caregivers in South Dakota and nationwide.
Briest serves as the primary caregiver for her husband, Corey, who sustained injuries after an Improvised Explosive Device blast while serving in Iraq in 2005.
Senator Elizabeth Dole created the Dole Caregiver Fellows program in 2012 to directly engage military and veteran caregivers in the Foundation’s mission.
