The City of Yankton is officially a Purple Heart City.
At their meeting Monday, the Yankton City Commission was awarded the special designation rom the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Yankton’s Corey Brest, a purple heart recipient, was in attendance Monday to witness the designation. Briest was seriously injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq in 2005.
Signs designating Yankton as a Purple Heart City will be placed along the highways leading into Yankton from all four directions.
