The Yankton City Commission held an hour-long work session on medical cannabis and then later introduced a first reading of their ordinance to create licensing for medical marijuana dispensaries.
Yankton City Attorney Ross Den Herder says the facility must contain a breezeway, or waiting area, before a person enters the actual store.
Den Herder says the facility may not operate outside of a time period from 9 AM to 9 PM, and must be very secure including high definition video cameras.
The Yankton City Commission will hold a second reading and public hearing for this ordinance at their June 14th meeting with a resolution afterward to establish pricing of the licenses.
