Yankton fire crews were called out early today to a blaze which destroyed a house at 5th and Picotte.
Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles says the 4:30 AM fire was potentially very dangerous, but two adults and three children got out of the house safely.
Nickles says the fire started on the main floor of the house, and they are still investigating the cause.
Nickles says firefighters were on the scene for more than four hours this morning.
Yankton Fire, Police and Ambulance were assisted by Yankton County Emergency Management and the Red Cross at the scene.
