Yankton County reported seven new positive tests of COVID-19 over the weekend and now has 67 active cases of the virus. Clay County reported 11 new infections this weekend and has 41 active cases.
The Yankton School District has one active case of COVID-19 at the High School, one at Stewart Elementary and one at Webster Elementary. Mount Marty University has one active case of the virus, and that’s a staff member.
Five deaths linked to the coronavirus were confirmed over the weekend in South Dakota, bringing the death toll up to 1,933. There are 2,412 active cases in South Dakota and 80 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide.
The South Dakota Department of Health reports that 42 percent of residents 16 and older statewide have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine. In Yankton County, five-thousand people have received the recommended two doses of vaccine.
