An overnight house fire in Yankton has claimed a life.
Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles says fire crews were called out early this morning to the 15-hundred block of Summit Street.
The victim was a 40-year-old male who died at the scene.
Nickles says the cause of the blaze is under investigation, and it was a challenge for firefighters in the bitter cold weather.
Nickles says there were no injuries to the firefighters and two people in the house were safely evacuated.
Yankton firefighters and first responders were on the scene for more than four hours early this morning on Summit Street across from the high school.
