Record Sales Tax Numbers

Record Sales Tax Numbers

After slumping through the final part of 2020, Yankton’s sales tax numbers for January showed record revenues to begin this year on a positive note.

Mayor Nathan Johnson says the figure of just over a million dollars for the month represents an increase of five-point-four-eight percent from one year ago.

Johnson says the record sales tax returns shows the strength of the local economy.

Johnson says he sees reasons for optimism over the next few months.

On a less positive note, Johnson says the city’s Triple-B fund showed a decrease last month of three-point-eight-eight percent from January of 2020.
