At Monday’s meeting of the Yankton City Commission, the first reading of an ordinance to extend the municipal mask mandate until close to the end of May is on the agenda.
Mayor Nathan Johnson says while COVID 19 numbers have decreased in the Yankton area and vaccine is being distributed, keeping the mask mandate in place for the present time makes good sense.
Johnson says there is reason to believe that the amount of vaccine available should increase over the coming months.
Johnson says there are multiple factors involved in lifting the mask mandate.
The Yankton City Commission meets at Monday at 7 PM.
