The Yankton City Commission has approved moving forward with an application for a state revolving fund loan to help cover the costs of significant repairs at the community’s wastewater treatment plant.
Mayor Nathan Johnson says the repair project is intended to provide the time to develop a longer-range plan for a new facility.
Johnson says the loan would help cover costs associated with a federal E-D-A grant the city received in 2020.
Johnson says customers can expect continued increases in wastewater rates for the foreseeable future.
Johnson says bid letting for the repair project is expected later this year with a completion date for the work some time in 2023.
