The Yankton City Commission has approved hiring former Colorado City Manager Bill Efting to help guide municipal government through the upcoming legalization of marijuana in South Dakota.
Yankton City Attorney Ross Den Herder says after serving as a City Manager during Colorado’s cannabis legalization, Efting now works as consultant.
City Manager Amy Leon says Efting will participate in a Yankton City Commission work session next month.
Leon says Efting has already recommended the formation of a Team Cannabis within the Yankton community to begin addressing the issues that will come with legalization.
The employment agreement with Efting calls for an hourly rate for his consulting services of one hundred fifty dollars.
